Evolving Workshop Technologies Pty Ltd (EWT) is a private company incorporated in Australia. The company founder, Hew McDonald, an experienced mechanic, was frustrated trying to access the undercarriage of different height vehicles over the pit. Having witnessed the hazards and precarious incidents with hoists and listening to recalls of dangerous hoist accidents, it made more sense to look for a solution that would move the mechanic and keep the vehicle safely on the ground. The Elevating Work Platform (EWP) for a mechanics pit solved this workshop dilemma. All throughout the development stages, the EWP outcome was to improve workplace efficiencies and safety but, keep to also keep the design simple.
EWT commenced trading in 2006; launching with the installation of the second EWP prototype into an existing commercial workshop pit. The EWP soon became a highly-regarded option during new workshop pit installations. Natural progression moved to pre-fabricated, drop-in pits built with an operational EWP for a near turn-key solution; and then a relocatable workshop pit facility with a pit and EWP.
The EWP has now proven to endure heavy use in mining and transport industries with its robust, but simple design based on an innovative adaption of the cable suspension system. In 2014, the EWP demonstrated its adaptability when it was easily tailored to a curved platform to be fitted into an orchestra pit.
Workplace efficiency improvements are fully demonstrated with the continual market reach, customer testimonials and a number of return customers.
Evolving Workshop Technologies (EWT) has spent years and capital researching and developing a solution to convert the pit into a highly valued and efficient piece of workshop equipment.
